At the game against The Curve, we hosted campaign group Waltham Forest Stand Up For Your Rights. The campaign is jointly organised by Waltham Forest Trades Council and London Unemployed Strategies – in conjunction with the East London UNITE Community Branch. They help benefit claimants in the borough know their rights and get support when […]
The league title could be decided this Saturday. Clapton will be hosting London Samurai in the big game at the Stray Dog. At the same time, Stonewall are away at Eastfield. There will be many in Walthamstow with a keen interest in how that one progresses. Clapton on 36 points still have to play FC Roast. […]
Clapton CFC are delighted to take part in Amnesty International’s Football Welcomes 2019, celebrating the contribution of refugees to the beautiful game. From the children fleeing the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s who went on to become some of the first refugees to play professionally here, to the likes of Granit Xhaka, Nadia Nadim […]
The world of video-games can be incredibly toxic at times. Racism, sexism and homophobia are rife while playing online games and in a large number of online communities around gaming. An online campaign in 2014 – spearheaded by white men – pushed games publishers to reject calls for greater representation for women and people of […]
With every game, Clapton pull out a more improbable, more outrageous win. They keep one-upping themselves in the drama stakes. As with their battling Jim Rogers Cup triumph over Hilltop FC the previous weekend, the Tons put in a mixed performance against The Curve. The margins were fine. There was some bad, but there was […]
It’s our first Saturday home game for two months and it’s a big one as we enter the last few weeks of the season.. There’s been a lot of highs already but there could be more to come. It’s really simple – win our last three games of the season and we win the Middlesex […]
On July 22 2018, Clapton Community took on Holland FC in their first game. They were beaten 5-0 in that friendly on the Essex coast. Less than nine months later, they have their hands on the first trophy of this new chapter of Clapton history. A nerve-shredding penalty shootout win over Hilltop FC at Uxbridge […]
The Jim Rogers President’s Cup is for clubs in two divisions at the same level – the Middlesex County Football League Division One West and Central & East. Clapton CFC, who play in Central & East, are in the final after wins away at South Kilburn Reserves and FC Deportivo Galicia Reserves a home victory against […]
After a short but well-deserved five day rest from a fixture-heavy weekend, it’s finally time for us all to start dreaming of silverware. This weekend’s fixture is a big one. The first of two cup finals the Tons have reached this season takes us to Honeycroft, Uxbridge FC’s home ground in West Drayton. Our opponents […]
At the last members’ meeting, a unanimous decision was taken for Clapton Community Football Club to expand into the realm of video games. Why? The gaming industry is now bigger than the industries of music and film combined, yet it’s a space often abandoned by the left. As a result, right-wing ideas and politics have […]
Fans came from near and far to see Clapton’s historic overseas friendly with CE Júpiter. There were those who had followed from East London. There were familiar faces from the Clapton Ultras days who now live in the area. As a pleasant surprise, there were also a couple of Sant Miquel players, a three-hour round trip […]
This was the friendliest of friendlies. From the (for once acceptable) half-and-half scarves, to the fans singing songs together, to the joyous post-match scenes. But Sant Miquel, from the eighth tier of Spanish football, are also the kind of friends who beat the crap out of you for a laugh. A late flurry of goals […]
Saturday saw the Tons taking to the pitch for the first of three games in three days and it’s safe to say this was a bit less glamorous than the trip to Barcelona. Since last Saturday’s sunny fixture at Eastfield FC the weather had taken a distinct turn for the worse. Plenty of layers were needed […]
Clapton CFC are heading overseas to play a special invitational friendly match against CE Júpiter. The game is part of the fourth annual Primavera Republicana festival to commemorate the Spanish Republic, which includes live music, lectures, theatre and, this year, a football match. 2019 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Spanish Civil […]
This weekend Clapton CFC will be taking part in three games, in two countries in a 72-hour footballing fiesta. A home fixture against U.E. Sant Miquel is followed the next day by a trip to Barcelona to face C.E. Jupiter in a pair of friendlies that will be another season highlight for the Tons. Firstly, […]
It was a big evening in North East London as fans of a historic club got to experience the unfamiliar surroundings of a bigger stadium next door. And as the expectant hordes crammed onto the Victoria Line, they realised Spurs were opening their new ground on the very same night. The match at the Wadham […]
Clapton CFC are hosting our first ever international friendly as UE Sant Miquel visit to mark their 40th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone they decided to play a match abroad and they chose London. Then they started looking for opponents, came across Clapton CFC and loved our values. So they approached us for a game […]
Clapton Community return home after over a month on the road this Wednesday evening. Well, almost home. They will be welcoming NW London to the Wadham Lodge Sports Ground – next to the Stray Dog – for this crucial league clash. The Tons notched a 3-1 pre-season win at the New River Stadium in Haringey […]
Some games just don’t make sense. Clapton came from behind, raced into a massive lead, almost threw that lead away, then restored a comfortable lead in 90 chaotic minutes in Leyton. At times, it felt more like a basketball game (but enjoyable). In the end, Sherwin Stanley’s three goals, assist and all round menace got […]
This Saturday Clapton CFC get back to league business with a third game against Eastfield FC of the season. The two clubs previously faced each other in a hard fought 1-1 draw at the Stray Dog in December. A young Eastfield side put in a strong performance in front of a boisterous home crowd. The […]
