Match preview // Ashford United vs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team // 02.11.25

Ashford United vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, November 2 2025 with a 3.30pm kick off at Homelands Stadium, Ashford Road, Kingsnorth, Ashford, Kent, TN26 1NJ

After recording back-to-back wins in the league for the first time this season, and with clean sheets in both too, the CCFC players no doubt are full of confidence as we head to Kent.

Incidentally the top scorer race is wide open, with Leigha Bradding-Butler and Marta Boiro tied on 7 goals apiece, Maria Mendonca on 6 and Emily Link on 5.

We’ve played Ashford three times before in cup competitions but this will be our first league meeting and our first visit to their Homelands Stadium.

About the opposition

The team began as Ashford Ladies in 1971, enjoying plenty of promotions and cup glory over the following decades and even reaching the Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals in 1973. In 2022 they became part of Isthmian League men’s side Ashford United. That season they won promotion to the London & South East Women’s Regional League Premier Division, but were relegated after two divisions at tier 5.

Previous meetings

Last season, we recorded our first victory against the Nuts & Bolts, with a 3-0 L&SERWFL Trophy win thanks to goals from Marta Casanovas, Emily Link and Oskia Summers. In November 2022, a then capacity crowd of 500 witnessed our third ever game at the Old Spotted Dog Ground in the Women’s FA Cup. Despite Annie Lyons’ goal, we lost 2-1. That same season, in April 2023, we met in the L&SERWFL Trophy final at Maidstone United. CCFC battled back from 3-0 down to level it thanks to goals from Teju Callisto (2) and Verity Phillips. That took the game to extra time, where Ashford sadly won it 5-3.

Form guide

Ashford’s fixtures have been as haphazard as ours – five home games in a row followed by four away games in a row. While they won’t be happy with their tenth place in the table, in their last home game, they beat Herne Bay, while they also picked up a draw at Actonians Reserves (who beat us) since.

Player/s to watch

In the wake of a few defeats, Ashford United have announced they’ve made some new signings and have had a two-week break to bed them in. So we’re expecting the unknown.

It’s £5 in, concessions £3, U18s £2 and U12s £1 payable by cash only.
