What happened in the Clapton CFC squad’s in-house friendly

In the absence of a competitive fixture, the Clapton CFC squad played a bounce game between ourselves on our 3G training pitch next door to the Stray Dog.

With player-manager Geoff Ocran and several players away, there was also a chance for a few trialists to shine.

All the players were able to notch up a full 90 minutes given no subs were needed.

The game ended 4-2 to the home colours, managed by assistant manager Stuart Purcell, against the away colours, managed by club captain Andrew Lastic.

The home colours’ goals came from Bogdan Panescu (2), who was forced to sit out the first weeks of the season awaiting international clearance, plus new signing Jake Stevens – a familiar name to Tons fans – and a penalty from Stefan Nielsen. Another new signing, Lewis Owiredu, scored twice in reply for the away colours.

Overall, great performances from players pushing for a place in the first team, new additions and people trying out new positions.  Loads for the coaching team to think about ahead of Saturday’s return to league action at home to Hereford Palace.

Afterwards, both sets of players posed for a joint team photo as you can see above.
