Tooting Bec vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, August 16 2026 with a 3pm kick off at Imperial Fields, Bishopsford Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 6BF
The 2026/27 season starts on Sunday with a very tough trip to Tooting Bec. They were promoted just behind Leyton Orient after an almost flawless season and are one of five new teams in our much-changed division. Promoted sides tend to continue that momentum – last season, Hammersmith achieved a back-to-back promotion and Camden Town almost joined them.
Clapton’s pre-season started with an impressive win in Gijón at CF Llosalín and ended with an even better victory against last season’s champions Hammersmith. In between there were three defeats but all games were against higher level opponents.
Sadly three core players from last season’s squad have departed this summer: goalkeeper Ella Bowles to university; top scorer Leigha Bradding-Butler to higher division Aylesford; and near ever-present right-back Kaylee Shurety to Leyton Orient. However, there have been several additions to the squad, both external signings and players progressing up from the CCFC Reserves. More on those to follow.
About the opposition
Tooting Bec FC launched both a men’s and women’s team in 2018. The Bec women’s team started out in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division 3, and have steadily risen up the rungs since. They also have a Reserves side who regularly face our own Reserves.
Previous meetings
We’ve met once, in the Capital Cup quarter-final in February 2024 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, losing 3-0.
Form guide
They won every game last season except two against runaway leaders Leyton Orient and one defeat to AFC Croydon Athletic. They also reached the final of the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy, losing to Orient again.
Player/s to watch
Pretty much all of last season’s squad has returned, including striker Bryony Bancroft who has been top scorer for the past five seasons.
Admission
Admission charge will be £3.50 and free for children.
There’s a bar on site which will be open before, during and after the match.
Directions
It’s a 9-minute walk from Mitcham tram station and a 24-minute walk from Mitcham Junction railway station.
On the Underground, it’s a 29-minute walk from Morden station at the end of the Northern Line.
