Match preview // AFC Greenwich Borough vs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team // 19.04.26

AFC Greenwich Borough vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, April 19 2026 with a 2pm kick off at 177 Footscray Road, Eltham, London, SE9 2SZ

It’s the second to last game of the season for the CCFC Women’s First Team and the final new ground we’ll visit as we head to Eltham on Sunday.

Greenwich are in sixth, three points behind us in fifth, but with three games in hand so we’ll need to win this one if we want to keep hold to that top five spot.

After this there’s just one game left, away at Hammersmith, who are in a two-way fight for the title and one promotion spot with Bromley.

About the opposition

AFC Greenwich Borough was founded in 2023 as a men’s veterans’ team. This season, the club took over the Welling United academy and women’s team, and also launched a men’s team which is second in the Southern Counties East Football League Division One. The women’s team have moved home grounds from Goals Eltham to a new facility GB10 Sports Ground and the intention is for the men’s team to join them in due course.

Previous meetings

Our only meeting was on a Thursday night at the Old Spotted Dog Ground in autumn, with CCFC winning a very competitive game 1-0 thanks to the winner from Aimee Shaw.

We played the team twice when they were called Welling United, with the only competitive game being a 5-3 League Cup win away in October 2023, thanks to goals from Emily Link (2), Lucy SpoursTeju Callisto and Maria Mendonca. There followed a friendly in summer 2024, which we won 5-1 thanks to goals from Emily Link (2), Maria Mendonca (2) and Kaylee Shurety
