Regents Park Rangers vs Clapton CFC preview: Tons seek to build on Palace victory

Our women’s first team are back in action next Sunday, when they travel to Barnes to take on Regents Park Rangers. They will be looking for more of the same after a highly-encouraging 4-0 win over Crystal Palace Development last weekend.

Regents Park Rangers have been in the Greater London Women’s Football League for nine years. The season before last, they were relegated from the division above. But they continued to struggle and were second bottom when last season was halted by COVID.

Our only prior meeting was a hot day just over a year ago, on their Barn Elms pitch. The hosts took an early lead but Zhane Amoaten headed home a Ciara Monahan corner to equalise and it finished 1-1. You can read Emily Link‘s match report here.

We are expecting another tight game this time round. In Rangers’ only game so far this season, they registered exactly the same scoreline as the Tons did last Sunday, beating Crystal Palace Development 4-0 at home. Hannah Buckley-Smith and Natalia Debek each got a brace. So the visiting defence will be particularly keen to keep those two quiet.
