Match preview // Dulwich Hamlet Res vs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team // 22.03.26

Dulwich Hamlet Reserves vs Clapton CFC is on Sunday, March 22 2026 at 1.30pm at Dulwich Hamlet Training Ground, St. Saviour’s & Saint Olave’s School Sports Ground, Green Dale, East Dulwich, London SE22 8TX

Just four games to go for the Clapton CFC Women’s First Team – and two of them are against Dulwich Hamlet Res. First up is the away day south of the river at the training ground near to their Champion Hill home.

With just one CCFC game played in the last month – in fact we’ve played five games in the last 14 weeks, none of which being down to the weather – the team may be a bit rusty. Alternatively, the rest may have done our injury-hit squad some good.

This will be our first meeting with Dulwich since the abandoned cup final at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium in May 2025.

About the opposition

The South London women’s football club AFC Phoenix formed in 2010 and its first and reserves teams quickly rose up the divisions. In 2018 they merged to become Dulwich Hamlet, with its first team in the fifth tier and the reserves in the seventh tier. Both teams have had a further promotion since, the first team moving up to the fourth tier in 2023/4, while the reserves were elevated to the sixth tier in 2020/21.

Previous meetings

This will be the eleventh meeting between the two teams, with the last one in May the most memorable. With Clapton 2-0 up in the league cup final at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium, the referee and a home official decided to abandon the game due to the presence of a Palestine flag and banner. A subsequent FA statement said that the game should not have been abandoned, but it was not replayed or ticket refunds given.

Of the ten games played to completion, Dulwich have the upper hand with four wins to our two, with three draws.

Form guide

Dulwich are in ninth in the table, three places and six points behind us, with both teams well clear of the relegation zone but out of the promotion contention too. in the last few months Dulwich have beaten Soccer Elite and AFC Greenwich Borough and last game drew with Actonians Res.
