Match report // Clapton CFC Men’s First Team 1 Brimsdown 1 // 03.03.26

Two in-form sides shared the points on Tuesday night in a game replayed from January which Brimsdown won 2-0 but fielded an unregistered player.

In a match of few clear chances, Alfie Francis’s first goal for the club looked like it might be enough to seal the points only for Brimsdown to grab a late equaliser.

The CCFC goal came in the 12th minute, when Charlie Fagan delivered a precise long ball to find Alfie Francis, who brought the ball down expertly and fired home from outside the box.

Brimsdown enjoyed the majority of possession but were struggling to create chances. Just before half-time, however, their tricky left-winger rattled Jack Francis’ crossbar from a free-kick on the edge of the box.

CCFC were forced into a change at half-time, with Felix Murray replacing the injured Sam Cook at left-back. The second half remained a cagey affair, with Brimsdown enjoying more possession but chances once again at a premium.

However, they eventually found a way through in the 79th minute when a long ball created a moment of hesitancy in the CCFC defence, allowing sub Taylan Kilinc to poke home.

In added time, Fred Taylor looked like he’d snatched a winner but his shot hit the side-netting. At the other end, Jack Francis made a big save in the dying seconds.

The drama continued after the final whistle, with a Brimsdown player receiving a red card as the teams headed for the tunnel.

A point keeps CCFC’s unbeaten run going – now up to 12 games without defeat – but means we’re three points behind leaders Hutton.
