Suleyman Zahmoul leaves Clapton CFC for divisional rivals Hackney Wick

Talented young winger Suleyman Zahmoul has transferred to divisional rivals Hackney Wick, making his debut for his new club last week.

Suley joined us in pre-season in 2022 when still a teenager, having come through the London APSA youth set-up. He caught the eye with his technique on the ball, ability to beat a man, and also his high work rate and determination.

He made 20 appearances in our promotion campaign last season, scoring 4 goals and grabbing three player of the match awards. This season he notched up another 13 appearances and another goal but those games have been restricted mainly to the subs’ bench.

Manager Geoff Ocran said: “It’s a similar situation to Arthur Wright where we couldn’t guarantee starts and the competition being fierce in the squad. We will never keep any unhappy players nor will we prevent them playing football elsewhere so we wish him well on his football journey.”

Suley posted on Instagram: “Huge appreciation to management, fans and teammates what a journey and a pleasure it’s been at such a special club filled with unforgettable moments. A thank you Clapton CFC for it all. Appreciation to Geoff Ocran for believing in my ability to take on non-league football and Sham Darr and Coach Ruudy for their optimism and drive to improve my game week in week out. I’ve been blessed to be a part of their 11.”

Everyone wishes Suley all the best.
