New season begins for CCFC’s development teams and Open Access XI

While the season is well underway for our women’s and men’s first teams, it’s just beginning for our three other adult 11-a-side teams.

All three teams are playing on Hackney Marshes with spectators very welcome.

Men’s Development

The men’s development team have been promoted for the second time in three seasons and will now play in the Hackney & Leyton League Division One.

Of the nine other teams in the division, Azteca (4th), Mateo (5th) and Stratford Juniors (10th) were in Division One last season. Mandeezy were relegated from the Premier Division while CCFC Development were promoted from Division Two alongside Athletico DFZ. There are four new entrants – FC Dinister, Lancaster All Stars, Loxford Lions and Topgrade FC.

Games are still at 10.30am on Sundays on Hackney Marshes and the team are once again managed by Jon Akaly with assistant Tom Marsland.

The season is now due to start on Sunday, September 17 after a false start the previous Sunday.

Full fixture list for the games we have confirmed at the moment here.

Women/NB Development

The women/non-binary development team are also playing on Hackney Marshes now after the London Women’s Saturday Football League set up new divisions north of the river.

They began their season on the LWSFL Division One North on Saturday, September 9 and will play roughly every fortnight on Saturday mornings.

Other teams in the division include familiar friends like Stonewall and Queerspace as well as Adamant FC and Victoria Park Vixens.

The team is being managed by experienced coach Neil Day, who is also joint manager of Buckhurst Hill men’s reserves team.

The fixture list for the full season is out now.

Women/NB Open Access

Clapton CFC will be fielding not one but two teams in the LWSFL league, with the CCFC Open Access (women/NB) 11s joining Division Two North.

The team has been formed out of the Open Access training sessions and the 5-a-side teams and will continue to be coached by Ellie Guedalla, joined by assistant coach Johanna Kuosa.

Matches will be roughly every fortnight on Hackney Marshes, starting on Saturday, September 16. Teams in the division include Goal Diggers, East Finchley and Alexandra Park.

The fixture list for the full season is out now.
