Shepherd’s Bush vs Clapton CFC preview: Big top two clash for the men’s first team

It’s one of the biggest games of the season so far for the men’s first team as they visit Shepherd’s Bush at Rectory Park in Northolt on Saturday.

The two teams are the only promotion applicants in the Middlesex County Football League Premier Division and are currently second and first respectively.

Our home game in August finished 1-1 at the Wadham Lodge 3G pitch, with Noah Adejokun scoring our equaliser.

However, in early October, the MCFL began to investigate a possible use of an ineligible player by Shepherd’s Bush in that game.

We’re still awaiting a verdict four months on but whatever is decided, these two teams are set for an epic tussle for the title and promotion.

Striker Troy Timothy is their top scorer with 14 goals in 14 games, having dual signed from Westfield, who play three divisions higher.

Mergim Qarri also joined from Westfield, having played for Brentford, Watford, Stevenage, Morecambe and overseas in Kosovo.

Veteran striker Andrew Harewood has turned out for a host of non-league at high levels. The Bush were founded in 2021 by another experienced non-league name, Aaron Morgan-Cummings.

In their debut season last year, they ran away with the Middlesex County Football League Division One South & West title.
