The make-up of the Clapton CFC Men’s Over 35s division has now been confirmed for the 2026/27 season.

The Men’s Over 35s remain in Essex Veterans League Division Three (West) for a second season, with eight other teams making up the division:

* Bealonians Res
* Clapton Community
* Debden Sports Club
* Hale End Athletic Res
* May & Baker EC
* Old Parkonians
* Old Parmiterians
* Phoenix East
* United Amateurs

There are three new opponents for us this season in Debden Sports Club, May & Baker EC and Phoenix East.

Phoenix East are a new name in the division, but there is a familiar link. The team previously played as Virtue Reserves last season before forming a new team under the Phoenix East name for the new campaign.

There will also be another chance to face several familiar opponents from last season, including Bealonians Res, Hale End Athletic Res, Old Parkonians, Old Parmiterians and United Amateurs.

The Men’s Over 35s had an excellent first campaign, finishing third in the division with 10 wins, four draws and four defeats from their 18 league games.

New home

There will be a change of home venue for the Men’s Over 35s this season, with the team moving to the Douglas Eyre Centre in Walthamstow for their home matches.

The move gives the team a new base for their second season in the Essex Veterans League.

Pre-season already underway

The Men’s Over 35s have already been busy preparing for the new campaign and have made a perfect start to pre-season.

Three games have brought three wins so far, with the Men’s Over 35s beating Bell FC 3-0, Higham Hill FC 8-0 and North East Lions 2-0.

That makes it 13 goals scored and none conceded from the opening three pre-season matches.

There are now five more games lined up before the league campaign gets underway, against Leyton Orientears, City of London, Sporting Hackney, Lloyd Park Old Boys and Margate Phoenix.

Dates and kick-off times for the league fixtures will be confirmed soon.

After such a strong debut season, and with pre-season already going well, the Men’s Over 35s will be looking to build on that third-place finish and push on again in 2026/27.
