Clapton CFC now has a seventh 11-a-side adult team after members voted 92.5% in favour of a new inclusive Saturday team.
The FTFA team will be playing in the London Women’s Saturday Football League Division One South against the likes of Goal Diggers, Peckham Town, Wanderers AFC and FC Porto of London.
The WNB Development Team already plays in the LWSFL Division One North against teams such as Stonewall, Goal Diggers and Victoria Park Vixens.
So we now have two teams in the LWSFL, which is a low admin league not within the Football Association jurisdiction. Matches are roughly every two weeks at Clapham Common (South division) and Hackney Marshes and Victoria Park (North division). You can see the full fixture lists on our website.
The FTFA team will be composed of players from the existing First, Reserves and Development squads, including Trans women players who are no longer allowed to play FA affiliated football. It will also provide a new opportunity for prospective First Team players to play alongside established members of the squad, and for Development players to play alongside Reserves players.
Profits from the sales of the second batch of Trans solidarity goalkeeper shirts will be put towards the cost of the team. When we put shirts back on sale again on August 22, we pledged that all profits would be ring-fenced for providing Trans inclusive football such as this.
In line with club rules, members need to vote on adding new teams and committees. Therefore we ran a poll in the latest members’ newsletter with 161 votes in favour and 13 against.
