Match report // Clapton CFC Women’s First Team 0 Hammersmith 3 // 14.09.25

Despite a battling performance, Clapton CFC Women’s First Team were unable to become the first side this season to take a point off league leaders Hammersmith.

The match began evenly, but it was the visitors who struck the all-important first goal on 17 minutes with their first clear chance with a neat finish. Clapton almost replied instantly, Emily Link forcing the keeper into a sharp save, before Marta Boiro went close with a free-kick. At the other end, keeper Ella Bowles twice denied Hammersmith to keep CCFC in contention at half-time, though they trailed 1–0.

The second half saw Clapton push forward, and Bowles again had to rescue her side with a superb stop. However, Hammersmith doubled their lead on the hour with a piledriver of a shot from outside the box. Despite Clapton’s efforts, they couldn’t find a breakthrough and the points were wrapped up when Hammersmith converted a penalty on 81 minutes.

Next up is a big one as we enter Women’s FA Cup underdog territory once more, visiting Histon who like Hammersmith have a 100 percent record this season.
