Thanks to all who donated to the food bank collection for London homelessness charity New Horizon Youth Centre last weekend.

New Horizon works with young people – including many in Newham and across East London – who are experiencing homelessness. They deliver high quality services for 16-24 year olds in housing, health, safety and life skills.

Due to the increased cost of living there has been an unprecedented recent demand, and supplies are running very low. The young people they support are really struggling to buy food and are often reliant on NHYC’s support to help them keep nourished.

So it was great to see a load of donations brought to their stall at the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team game against Heybridge Swifts.

They said: “We just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the support with organising a food bank drive for us at such short notice. 

“We are very grateful for all of the donations, which will go directly to young people experiencing homelessness on the sharp end of the cost of living crisis.

“The bank is nicely stocked up and the young people are very grateful to see plenty of tuna in the cupboard – it always goes first! 

“We also got some donations on the card reader too, so there will be more on the way! Really appreciate the solidarity shown here.”

New Horizon will potentially come back every quarter so there will be further chances to help top up their cupboards.
