Those of you who have seen the team in action over pre-season or the first few games of the season may have noticed a few new faces for the Clapton CFC Women’s First Team…

Ellie Dunn

Ellie is able to play either left back or right back. She played most recently for University of Nottingham and Liverpool Feds reserves. She supports Liverpool, with Steven Gerrard and Ronaldinho as her favourite players. By her own admission, she’s not even the best player in her family: her sister played for England and won the FA Cup.

Genevieve Buabeng

Genevieve is a striker/winger who previously played for South Park as well as Governors State University in Illinois in the United States. Away from football, she’s into sim racing, gardening, and looking after her cats.

Florence “Flo” Hobbes, centre-back

Flo is a centre back who spent six years in the West Midlands, playing for Knowle Women FC, where she won the league, as well as Solihull Sporting and University of Birmingham. Before Birmingham she played for MK Dons and Chesham United. She’s now back home in the south. She supports QPR, but you’re more likely to find her at the Emirates with a pint, watching Arsenal Women.

Also signed: 

Noora Oikarainen and Verity “Vee” Hayward have been promoted to the First Team squad from the Reserves. 

Noora is a defensive stalwart, able to play centre back and left/right back. Vee played primarily as an attacking number 10 in the reserves, but is making a name for herself on the wing so far this season. 

Farewells

Sadly a couple of mainstays from last season’s squad have departed this summer: top scorer Leigha Bradding-Butler has moved to higher division Aylesford while near ever-present right-back Kaylee Shurety has switched to Leyton Orient. In addition, goalkeeper Ella Bowles is due to go to university.
