It’s proved to be a happy Easter for the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team with a second away win in the space of two days.
The final away game of the season saw CCFC ease to a 5-0 win against regular foes NW London in the sunshine at Haringey Borough’s Coles Park.
it took 20 minutes to breach the NW London defence. Louis Brown fired a shot that was tipped onto the post but Flavien Stierlen reacted quickest to tap home the rebound from close range.
Twelve minutes later, the lead was doubled. Tami Unuefa worked space down the right and delivered a low cross to Brown, who shot on the turn.
Then two minutes later, Jack Francis recorded his first assist of the campaign. His long ball over the top found Joel Akuwudike, who remained calm and slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.
The pace slowed in the second half but in the 59th minute, a James Goldring corner was met by a powerful Julian Austin header.
The fifth and final goal arrived in the 66th minute when Korahn Gayle swung in a cross from the right that drifted high over the keeper and dropped into the far post. A bit fortunate, but Gayle’s performance probably deserved a stroke of luck.
That’s now 18 games unbeaten which is a club record.
Just one game to go now and we will have a chance to win the league still – though we’ll either have a slim or very slim chance, depending on how Hutton get on in their game in hand.
