Clapton CFC Men’s First Team will meet old rivals Sporting Hackney in the second round of the London Senior Trophy.

The East London derby will take place at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, with the date still to be confirmed.

The two teams have met eight times previously, in our Middlesex County Premier League days before we were promoted. However, this will be the first time we’ve played them at the OSD.

Since then, Sporting Hackney have moved sideways to the Essex Alliance League and now play at the Douglas Eyre Centre in Walthamstow.

CCFC won their first round tie 5-0 at Rising Ballers Kensington. Sporting Hackney meanwhile were given a walkover win as their first round opponents Charlton Athletic U18s withdrew from the competition at the weekend.

The winners of this tie will travel to either Tooting Bec or Hilltop Res in the third round. If we were to progress, we’d be away again, and indeed won’t be at home again in the competition.

This is our debut season in the London Senior Trophy and it’s the only cup the Men’s First Team are still in after exiting the FA Vase, BBC Essex Senior Cup and the Eastern Counties Football League Cup.
