Wodson Park vs Clapton CFC preview: Another big Women’s FA Cup away day

Wodson Park vs Clapton CFC is on Sunday, October 1 2023 at 2pm at Wodson Park Sports and Leisure Centre, Wadesmill Road, Ware, Hertfordshire SG12 0UQ.

Ware are you going this weekend? On the Women’s FA Cup trail with the CCFC women’s first team in Hertfordshire, of course.

We’re at the second round qualifying stage, following our win over St Margaretsbury in the last round while Wodson Park were handed a bye.

Wodson Park are riding high in the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South, the same level as us. That makes us the underdogs again… and you know what that means in the FA Cup… your support is needed!

The opposition

Wodson Park formed in 1997 as a men’s team and after many promotions they reached Step 6 (the level our men’s first team are at now) but folded in October 2019. The women’s team used to play under the Hertford Town banner but changed their name for the 2019/2020 season when they moved to the Wodson Park venue.

Previous meetings

This will be our first ever meeting. The men’s first team have, however, visited this ground for an Anagram Records Trophy tie away at Ware Sports in March 2019.

Form guide

Both teams play at the same level in the women’s football pyramid, the sixth tier.

Wodson Park are fourth in their division, Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South. Former cup opponents Haringey Borough and Bedford are in the division above and Biggleswade United at the same level along with our ex-league rivals Watford Development.
