Eastbourne United vs Clapton CFC preview: Cup trip to the seaside for our women’s first team

All aboard for a trip to the Sussex seaside in the final cup competition we’re involved in this season, the London & South East Regional Women’s Football League Trophy.

Our hosts are the highest placed women’s team of the three Eastbourne football clubs – United, Borough and Town. We’ve got links with fans of the latter.

United play at the same level as us, except they’re in the southern section and we’re in the northern. Like ourselves, it’s their first season at this level and they have carried on their form after promotion. In fact they’ve won all five league games at the Oval this season.

We reached this stage by beating higher division AFC Acorns at the Old Spotted Dog, while Eastbourne won on penalties at Watford Development.

Match information

Eastbourne United vs Clapton CFC is on Sunday, February 12 at 3pm at The Oval, Channel View Road, Roselands, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN22 7LL

Admission is £3.

The Oval is around 30 minutes’ walk from Eastbourne station. Trains are running but part of the journey (Three Bridges to Brighton) will be a replacement bus service, making it about 2 hours from London.

So we are running a supporters’ coach priced at £16 – see below for more information or to book.
