Clapton CFC men’s first team handed first round county cup walkover win

After a weekend off due to the FA cancelling all football, the men’s first team were due to return to action with a BBC Essex Premier Cup tie.

However, our opponents, Essex Olympian Football League side Corinthians Reserves, have today withdrawn from the competition, giving CCFC another walkover win.

The men’s first team committee is now looking to find an alternative fixture – whether league, cup or friendly – to avoid another free weekend. Watch this space.

We will now be at home in the next round on Saturday, October 8 against either Beacon Hill Rovers or Saffron Walden Town Reserves, with the venue TBC.

That means the home league game against Kodak (Harrow) scheduled for that day will be off.

The winner of the second round tie will be away at either Pitsea Athletic or Hullbridge Sports Reserves on November 11.

This is one of three cup competitions the men’s first team are involved in. We are also in the Alec Smith Premier Division Cup and the quarter-finals of the Anagram Records Trophy.
