It’s CCFC vs CCFC in a big Women’s FA Cup game on Sunday and as usual we’re away. This will our seventh FA Cup away game in a row and overall it’s the 14th away tie out of the 18 in our history.
There’s nothing we like better than an FA Cup run, though, so there should be a good away following for Clapton CFC. It’s free entry in a decent stadium, so come and join us.
We reached this round with a bye in the Preliminary Round and then won 6-3 at AFC Welwyn in the First Qualifying Round.
Chelmsford City are in the same division as Welwyn– the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Division One South – which is the same level as Clapton.
About the opposition
Chelmsford City Women & Girls, founded in 1986, are the longest established female football club in Essex. They have three senior teams and a load of youth teams. Their first team reached this level with promotion from the Essex County Women’s Football League Premier Division in 2023/2024 as champions. In the two seasons since, they’ve finished runners-up both times.
Previous meetings
The two teams met in an early pre-season friendly in the summer at Melbourne Stadium, with the home side winning 4-0.

Player/s to watch
Kaci Crook scored a hat-trick against us in pre-season. Last season’s top scorer Zoe Rushen has five in five games so far. Fellow striker Abigail Woollvin has been a thorn in our side over the years for the likes of Dulwich Hamlet Reserves and Whyteleafe.

Chelmsford is just 32 minutes on a direct train from Liverpool Street, or 25 minutes from Stratford. From there it’s about a 35 minute walk, or get a bus or taxi.
