Our first away game in the Essex Senior Football League era is a midweek East London derby. An away day to Mile End Stadium is always a treat and even more so as it’s the only away game in our first seven games of the new season.
Both sides will be looking to kickstart their ESFL season after losing their opening games. Any of the CCFC’s players feeling nervous about competing at this level after promotion, however, should be feeling more confident after the 3-0 win in the Men’s FA Cup against Benfleet on Saturday.
About the opposition
Sporting Bengal United was founded in 1996 to address the under-representation of British Asian footballers, particularly those of Bangladeshi heritage. The Tigers became one of the first British Asian teams to compete in the FA Cup alongside the sadly missed London APSA. Sporting Bengal United achieved back-to-back play-off promotions in 2023 and 2024 to reach Step 4 (Isthmian League).
Previous meetings
We’ve met just once – in a friendly in July 2025 at the Stepney Green Astro. Goals from Andre Odeku, Azariah George-Lawal, Emmanuel Olasehinde, Korahn Gayle and Pete Jamieson saw us seal a 5-3 win.
Form guide
Like us, Sporting Bengal lost their opening game of the season, going down 4-2 at Barking. They followed it up with a 5-0 defeat at higher league Haringey Borough in the Men’s FA Cup, a tricky tie not helped by going down to ten men when 1-0 down,
Player/s to watch
Ex-Harlow Town and Haringey Borough striker Fred Agyemang was one of the top scorers in the division when we played in the Eastern Counties League. He bagged 24 for Barkingside then managed by James Wakeling, who is now Bengal boss. Agyemang got off the mark last week with a penalty.
Admission
We’ve not had the match information through yet, but it seems every team we’ll face in the Essex Senior Football League charges between £8 to £10 for standard admission, so expect it in a similar price bracket.
