Clapton CFC’s longest serving player Dean Bouho has become the second player to make 200 competitive appearances for the club, just two months after Jack Francis.
Deano joined the club from the very first training session in the summer of 2018 and he’s one of only two players to have played in every season since, alongside Lewis Owiredu.
The 33-year-old is the only player to have featured in the thirteen cup competitions the Men’s First Team have entered, helping the team to win two league titles and a load of cup trophies. And we’ve never lost when he’s scored any of his six goals to date. He’s also played the role of Walter Tull in the Tony Robinson series History of Britain.
Manager Geoff Ocran said of Deano: “He’s my most loyal player, he always makes himself available. With his commitment, he leads by example for the team to follow. He’s also much more of a footballing centre-back than he originally was and he’s having one of his best seasons.”
Dean answered some of your crowd-sourced questions..
How does it feel to reach 200 appearances?
It feels pretty much amazing as I’m playing for one of the biggest non-league clubs in London. I’ve never ever expected to reach 200 appearances in a million years. I’m proud, and It’s an honour to do so.
What has made you stay at Clapton for so long?
It’s pretty much the management, players, and fans. The vibe at the club feels very good. It feels like everyone here is family. I’m happy to say this is my second home.
What has been your favourite moment in a Clapton shirt?
I have two favourite moments. The first one is winning the cup final against Hilltop FC. My second favourite is winning the Middlesex Premier Division to get us promoted to the Thurlow Nunn League.
What was the celebration about when you took off your boot when we scored at Barking?
The striker that game left one on me, on my toe. Pretty much the moment we scored, to ease the pain I took the boot off, then started celebrating with the team, lol.
Which of your many slide tackles is your favourite?
It has to deffo be at the Ware Sports game in the Anagram Records Trophy semi-final.
Having seen you at right, left and centre-back, which is your favourite?
My main position is right-back. However, I’m happy to play anywhere across the backline to help the team.
Which is your favourite goal of the six you’ve scored?
My favourite goal is probably away at Newbury Forest from around the half-way line. Initially, it was supposed to be a pass in behind to the striker. Luckily, my bad pass led to the goal.
What do you still want to achieve with Clapton?
Win the Thurlow Nunn League this season and win the Essex Senior League next season. With a good cup in the FA Cup and Vase for good measure.
