Clapton CFC Women’s First Team to face Brentford in the league cup

The Clapton CFC Women’s First Team have been drawn at home to Brentford in the third round of the London & South East Regional Women’s League Cup.

The tie will take place at the Old Spotted Dog Ground on Sunday, November 30 at 2pm. It means we now have four home games in a row, having just finished 8 away games in 9.

The winners of the tie will then travel to Bognor Regis Town or Leatherhead in the quarter-finals.

It’s the hardest possible draw as The Bees sit top of the division above. A familiar opponent over the last five years, it seemed unlikely that our paths would cross again when they finally won promotion with an almost perfect record last season. Coincidentally they sealed promotion with a 4-2 win at the OSD in May (pictured at the top of the page).

Over the summer Brentford recruited a new manager and an influx of new players too and the upwards trajectory has continued.

We reached this stage by beating Hastings United in the first round and then Actonians Res in the second, both away from home.
