Barking vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, November 7 2026 with a 3pm kick off at Mayesbrook Park, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham, RM8 2JR
Join us on Saturday for a second trip to Mayesbrook Park in a month as we take on high-flying Barking in an East London derby.
The last visit was a disappointing defeat to Romford, but we’ve had happy times here before, most notably the cup final win against Forest Hill Park in May 2025.
Barking have won all their home games this season, while CCFC have lost all their away games, so on paper it should be an easy home win – but you never know in football.
Please note there will be a two-minute silence of Remembrance before all games in the Essex Senior Football League, including ours. We invite you to use that time to remember those who have died in wars and conflicts, from past to present, and also Clapton CFC members we have lost.
Remember that our FTFA team are playing at the Old Spotted Dog Ground at noon, and many supporters will be going to both games.
About the opposition
Barking can trace history back to 1880 and won titles in the London, Athenian and Isthmian leagues. They reached the final of the FA Amateur Cup in 1926/27 and the second round of the FA Cup three times between 1978 and 1982. The club merged with East Ham United in 2001, but that club folded five years later and Barking was re-established. They’ve lost in the play-offs in the last three seasons so will be looking to finally break that run this season under experienced manager Craig Edwards.
Previous meetings
We’ve never met in a competitive game, though we did visit for a friendly in summer 2021, losing 3-1. Our goal was scored by Lewis Owiredu.
Form guide
Barking are in fifth position, just in the play-off places, having won all their home games but having patchy away form.
Player/s to watch
Player/coach Fahad Nyanja has played some friendlies for Clapton CFC before and has had a glittering non-league career with the likes of Enfield, Basildon United and Clapton FC.
Attacker Ryan Pickles has 10 goals already this season. Last season’s player of the season Charlie Thomson has rejoined the club on dual registration with Isthmian League side Whitstable Town.
Admission
Admission is £10, concessions £8 and U16s £1.
