Hutton vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Wednesday, October 7 2026 with a 7.45pm kick off at New Lodge, Blunts Wall Road, Havering’s Grove, Billericay, Essex CM12 9SA
After two home wins on the bounce in the Essex Senior Football League, Clapton CFC head to Billericay Town’s New Lodge for a Wednesday night away day.
CCFC are looking for their first away win after promotion – which was of course achieved via the play-offs after Hutton held us off to win the title.
Hutton are looking for a first win at this level but they won’t be panicking, as their season is only six games in and they’ve only played twice at home.
Having already met at the Old Spotted Dog Ground in August – a -0-0 draw – this will be the first team we’ve met twice this season.
About the opposition
The Tons were formed in 1928 and are one of the largest clubs in Essex with 70 teams. Their men’s first team groundshare at Billericay Town and have risen up the divisions at the same time as us. Both were promoted from step 7 in the same year and of course Hutton were promoted as champions last season while we joined them by winning the play-offs.
Previous meetings
In August, it was a goalless draw, with Clapton CFC playing much of the game with 10 men after Junia Charlton was sent off.
Last season we won 3-0 away with goals from Flavien Stierlen (2) and Fred Taylor, then drew at home 2-2 with Sam Cook and Fred again scoring. Two seasons ago we lost 2-1 away in the league cup, 3-2 away in the league and drew 1-1 at home. Our first competitive home fixture was against Hutton in September 2018 in the BBC Essex Premier Cup, losing 5-4.
Form guide
Hutton have three draws and three defeats so far this season, though have had a few wins in cups. Their games have been very high-scoring (except when they played us!) with 15 goals in their two home fixtures so far.
Player/s to watch
Experienced striker Adam Vyse is on three goals so far this season after bagging 21 in last season’s promotion. Former CCFC midfielder Noah Salama has joined Hutton this season. Classy winger Jonny Ashman is a former Old Spotted Dog Ground favourite too.
