Two Clapton CFC teams in London Solidarity Cup

Clapton CFC fans participated in and helped organise the second London Solidarity Cup, which took place last Saturday.

Clapton had a mixed gender fan team organised by the fan group Clapton Action, who played under the team name Scaffold Brigada.

They walked away with one draw, a win and two losses. Winners of their league were Fusion FC, a team in the same division as Clapton CFC WNB reserves.

Clapton were also represented by Renaissance FC, a refugee team who play in our kit. They were in the men’s competitive league and lost out to Camden based team, 5before5 in the final but put up a good fight.

There were around 15 teams playing across the day including Arsenal Antifascists, East London Emerald, Underground Celtic, Free Palacestine (Crystal Palace), Camden Friends Of Palestine, AEK and Haringey Borough FC.

And Clapton Punks were responsible for reffing and the after party. The London Solidarity Football coalition managed to raise over £2000 for Al Karmel FC, a Palestinian refugee team based in Beirut, Lebanon, and legal funds for antifascist football fans.

Solidarity events like these are no easy task, the tournament took months of preparation and lots of money to put on. So a particular thank you goes out to Clapton CFC fans who raised almost £450 for the tournament.
