Clapton CFC registered their first Essex Senior Football League win of the season earlier in the week following promotion.
Grabbing a first away win will be even tougher at one of the early high-flyers in the division on Saturday, but the team will be looking to at least match the intensity of that performance.
With the departure of striker Cameron Gordon to Australia and some key injuries picked up in that midweek win, other CCFC squad members will get a chance to stake their claim.
About the opposition
Hullbridge Sports was formed in 1945 as a small post‑war village side but has grown into one of Essex’s most respected grassroots clubs. They spent their early days in the Mid‑Essex and Essex Olympian leagues before being promoted into the Essex Senior Football League in 1990. The club’s proudest moment came in the 2018/19 season, when Hullbridge Sports were crowned ESFL champions earning them promotion to the Isthmian League where they spent four seasons.
Previous meetings
None. However, we met the Hullbridge Sports U23 side in an BBC Essex Premier Cup tie December 2020, winning 3-0 in the final action for over four months due to lockdown.

It’s been an impressive start with Hullbridge in fifth spot, with games in hand. This is despite having not played at home in the league since August 1. They’re also still in the FA Vase and the BBC Essex Senior Cup.

It’s £10 in, with concessions at £6 and U16 £3.

Directions
The nearest railway station is Rayleigh, which is on a direct line from Liverpool Street (45 minutes) and Stratford (35 minutes).
However, that’s about an hour’s walk. So instead you can catch the number 20 bus from Rayleigh station, getting off at the first stop in Ferry Road, just after the Co-op and proceed to walk up the hill (Lower Road). The club is approximately 0.4 miles on the right.
Driving: Leave the A127 and head towards Rayleigh on the A129. Turn left at the first mini roundabout and go down Crown Hill towards Rayleigh Station. Go past Rayleigh Station which will be on your left and the road bends round to the left and you will go under the railway bridge. Take the first turning the other side of the railway bridge which will be Down Hall Road. Continue to the end of Down Hall Road and turn left at the end into Hullbridge Road. Follow Hullbridge Road until it comes to an end and there will be a sharp right hand bend which goes in to Lower Road. Continue along Lower Road, straight over the mini roundabout and up the hill. You will see Hilltop Avenue on
your left hand side and the turning in to the football ground will be just after this
on the right.
