Match preview // Basildon Town vs Clapton CFC Men’s First Team // 01.11.25

Basildon Town vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, November 1 2025 with a 3pm kick off at The Hive, Gardiners Close, Basildon, Essex, SS14 3AW

CCFC visit Basildon on Saturday, looking to avenge our opening day home defeat to them.

Our first ever visit to The Hive is also a chance to get the play-off push back on track after our five-game winning streak was ended by AS London last weekend.

With a growing injury list, Geoff Ocran’s management team will no doubt need to juggle the squad once again.

About the opposition

Basildon Town are the town’s oldest club, formed nine years before Essex Senior League side Basildon United. Town were a major force in the Essex Olympian League, but were unable to be promoted due to the ground grading at their Basildon Sports & Leisure Club home. In 2021/22 they moved to groundshare with United and promotion came at the first attempt as runners-up. In 2022/23 they finished agonisingly one point away from back-to-back promotions but missed out in the play-offs. Last season they returned to Basildon United’s Gardiner Close ground, after a spell at Rookery Hill, former home of East Thurrock United.

Previous meetings

The first game of this season at the Old Spotted Dog Ground saw Basildon come back from 1-0 down (an Andre Odeku goal) to win it 2-1. Two seasons ago, both games ended in draws. It was 2-2 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground in August, with Noah Adejokun and Jeff Twumasi grabbing our goals. In the return game in September, Adam Sidky’s goal secured a 1-1 draw. So we’ve yet to beat them…

Form guide

Basildon are in mid-table, but winning their games in hand can get close to the play-off picture. They are fourth in the form table over the last five games. Clapton are just above them in second place in that form table.

Player/s to watch

Last season’s joint top scorers Dylan Jones and Luke Winter both scored against us on the opening day. However, Stanley Goodgame is their top scorer this season with 5 so far.
