Change of venue for Clapton CFC Women’s First Team cup final

The Clapton CFC Women’s First Team cup final on Sunday, May 25 against Dulwich Hamlet Reserves will now take place at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium. Kick off is now 2pm.

The game was originally scheduled for Dorking Wanderers’ Meadowbank Stadium but we requested a switch due to the stadium’s ‘no noise on a Sunday’ rule. We want to be able to be able to vocally and noisily support our team especially in a cup final.

Another consideration was the venue is over two hours’ away by public transport from the Old Spotted Dog Ground, and over 1 hour 30 minutes from Dulwich’s home.

We teed up four similar stadiums within the TFL travel zone on both sides of the river that were happy to host. Thank you to all of those clubs.

In the end, the league officials decided on a new venue themselves, the Gallagher Stadium. Most importantly, it’s one where noise (and that includes drums) will be allowed. We thank the league for their help in considering fans.

At just over 1 hour 30 minutes away from both grounds, it’s a bit nearer for us and about the same for our opponents.

This will be our second final at the stadium, having played there against Ashford United in April 2023 in the final of the same competition, London & South East Regional Women’s Football League Trophy.

A reminder that the Men’s First Team cup final versus Forest Hill Park is next Saturday, May 10 at Barking’s Mayesbrook Park. Tickets need to be booked in advance, there’s no pay on the day.
