Clapton CFC vs Meridian VP preview: Men’s First Team back at home

Clapton Community FC vs Meridian VP takes place on Saturday, February 15 2025 with a 3pm kick off at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, 212 Upton Lane, Forest Gate, East London, E7 9NP.

The home games are coming thick and fast for the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team with 5 of the next 6 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground.

Last Saturday’s home game felt like a potential turning point, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 against Rochester United with virtually the last kick of the game. What’s more it was the only win against the current top half of the table this season.

That made it three home wins in a row (two in the league, one in the cup) but a longer run is needed to haul ourselves properly into the play-off mix. Meanwhile visitors Meridian are fast improving with a new manager bounce and would no doubt love to cause an upset.

It’s the second of our two designated Football v Homophobia (FvH) games. Our captains will wear rainbow armbands and our players rainbow laces to raise awareness. The programme features articles from our players, coaches and volunteers. We will have a bucket shake and badges for sale in aid of Lesbians & Gays Support The Migrants and Come As You Are. And we have a guest beer from Queer Brewing in Leyton, a queer and trans-owned brewery.

The building works are still ongoing on the alleyway behind the Old Spotted Dog Ground. We’re using the Upton Lane entrance only, with the alleyway out of action.

There’s a bus replacement service to Forest Gate station this weekend due to engineering works so scroll down for suggestions if that’s your usual route.
