OIR vs Clapton CFC preview: Final game of season for men’s first team

The Clapton CFC men’s first team have sealed the title and promotion but have still one more game to play before the season ends.

Apologies for the short notice, but it’s now been arranged for Wednesday at 7pm. Please do come along if you can and hopefully cheer our team to a win to end our stay at Step 7.

Nothing is riding on the game, except Fred Taylor battling to be the league’s top scorer against PFC Victoria’s Pawel Kowalkowski and Larkspur Rovers’ Craig Mathieson.

OIR – short for Oasis Rovers – were formed in 2020 and joined the Middlesex County Football League.

After a first season curtailed by Covid-19, they were champions of the Division One (Central & East) last season and gained promotion to the Premier Division. They are bottom of the table this season, though this was not helped by losing six points when AVA pulled out.

OIR also compete in the Somali British Premier League, against the likes of our old friends Hilltop and East London side Tower United. and in the Islington Midweek Football League and the Edmonton District Sunday League.
