The women’s first team’s trip to Watford Ladies Development in the league was on, then off due to the opponents being in cup action, now it’s back on again this Sunday.
This will actually be the home side’s first league game since August, having spent most of the last month competing in three different cups.
Their 2 league games so far have both been against leading sides. They won 1 (against fourth placed Sport London E Benfica) and lost 1 (against third placed Dulwich Hamlet Reserves).
Watford Ladies FC formed in 1970 and were linked with the Watford FC men’s team from 2003 until 2018 when Watford Ladies FC went independent again.
Despite the ‘Development’ name, the team we’re facing in the London & South East Women’s Regional Football League is now the club’s first team.
Watford FC now has its own women’s football set-up, with a first team in the third tier, the FA Women’s National League South.
Match information
Watford Development vs Clapton Community FC takes place at Green Lane, Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, HP3 0LA on Sunday October 16 2022, with a kick off time of 2pm.
There is a bar/clubhouse on site and a nice main stand. We’ve not been told of any charge for spectator entry.
Directions
Follow the signs for Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club & Bovingdon FC. If you come up the hill from the Bovingdon High Street, it is on the left hand side of the road. If you reach Bovingdon Green, you have gone too far.
The nearest railway station is Hemel Hempstead, which is over an hour’s walk away, but it’s only an 8 minute bus journey. Hemel Hempstead is only 24 minutes on the train from Euston.
If travelling by car, please do not park in the tennis club car park but follow the access road round, which will bring you to the football club car park. Please proceed on to the car park even if it seems busy, as there often spaces towards the back.
