Match preview // Herne Bay vs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team // 13.12.25

Herne Bay vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, December 14 2025 with a 3.30pm kick off at Winch’s Field, Stanley Gardens, Herne Bay, Kent CT6 5SG

Join us by the seaside on Sunday for the last Women’s First Team game of the year – and as it stands the team’s last game for over a month. It’s just a 15 minute walk to the seafront but hopefully the players won’t be on the beach ahead of this enforced winter break.

After a great first half of the season, CCFC will be looking to bounce back from a couple of cruel defeats that deserved more – a cup loss to higher division Brentford and a last minute league loss to Camden Town.

Note the later-than-usual kick off time. As it’s a 3G surface there should be no issues with postponements.

About the opposition

The current Herne Bay women’s team formed in 2012 in the South East Counties Women’s Football League. Three successive promotions saw them reach the London & South East Regional Women’s League Premier Division (tier 5) where they stayed for three seasons before dropping back down to Division One South. Due to a summer restructure they now find themselves laterally moved to the North division. They play their home games at Winch’s Field, the same stadium as the men’s team in the Isthmian League.

Previous meetings

At the Old Spotted Dog Ground in August, we won a tight game 1-0 thanks to a fine strike from Leigha Bradding-Butler.

Form guide

Herne Bay are in ninth place in the table, but their home form is good with 3 wins out of 6. They recently drew 0-0 with Bromley and beat Dulwich Hamlet Reserves 5-0.

Player/s to watch

Young striker Ffion Sharp is their top scorer with 5 goals. Isobel Lewis-Taggart scored a 23-minute hat-trick against Dulwich and has been player of the match five times this season.

Admission

Admission is £5, or £3 for concessions and free for Under 12s.

Directions

Their Winch’s Field ground is just a 12 minute walk from Herne Bay station, which is served by direct trains from Stratford International (1 hr 15 min journey time) and St Pancras International (1 hr 22 mins). A slightly longer but cheaper journey is from London Victoria (2 hr 2 mins).

Limited parking is available at the stadium, but there is parking on local roads and a large car park on William Street
