Match preview // Actonians Res vs Clapton CFC Women’s First Team // 09.11.25

Actonians Reserves vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Sunday, November 9 2025 with a 2pm kick off at the Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub, Popes Lane London W3 8LQ

Just 21 days after our last trip to Gunnersbury Park, we head there again, this time in the London & South East Regional Women’s Football League Cup second round.

Since then, the team have been on a good run, winning all three games and conceding just one goal.

This will be the eighth away game in nine games in a gruelling schedule for the Clapton CFC Women’s First Team.

It is one of two cup competitions we’re left in – with the other taking place next week when we host Denham United in the Capital Women’s Cup. Finally, a home game on a Sunday.

About the competition

This is one of two league cup competitions that the L&SERWFL operates. All teams start in the L&SERWFL Cup then the losers in the first two rounds drop into the LSEWFL Trophy. So the winners of this tie will stay in the competition, while the losers will enter the L&SERWFL Trophy.

In the last round, we beat Hastings United for our second ever win in the L&SERWFL Cup – away at Welling United in 2023 being the other. In the L&SERWFL Trophy, we’ve fared much better, reaching the final twice, including last season against Dulwich Hamlet Res

About the opposition

Actonians LFC was founded in 1998 as Chiswick United, before becoming Acton Sports Club four seasons later and then in 2008 part of Old Actonians, a men’s club formed in 1925. They now have multiple women’s and girls’ teams. The women’s first team are in the fourth tier FA Women’s National League Division One South East and have recently moved to groundshare at North Greenford United. Their reserves team have been in this division for three seasons. This season, the club made the name change from Actonians Ladies to Actonians Women.

Form guide

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Actonians Reserves. Having finished eighth last season, they’re massively improved and sit in fourth place in the table. They’ve had just one defeat so far, 3-2 at leaders Hammersmith.

Previous meetings

There have been two wins, two losses and one draw in our meetings so far across the last three seasons. Actonians won the first game of last season at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, digging in to win in the last minute 1-0 after soaking up a lot of pressure. The away game ended in a 2-2 draw with goals from Oskia Summers and Egle Trezzi.

Player/s to watch

Katy Hanscomb is the division’s top scorer with 13 goals already this season – our own Leigha Bradding-Butler is in third place with 10 goals. She scored twice last month and twice in our games last season.
