Match preview // Brimsdown vs Clapton CFC Men’s First Team // 13.08.25

Brimsdown vs Clapton CFC is on Wednesday, August 12 2025 at 7.45pm at Wormley Sports Club, Church Lane, Wormley, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire EN10 6LB

It’s the first away game of the season for the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team when we visit Brimsdown on Wednesday night. After a disappointing start to the new season with one win from the first three home games, the team will hope to make up ground with some points away from home.

Brimsdown coincidentally groundshare at Wormley Rovers, where our last away game in this division happened in the play-offs in 2024.

About the opposition

The old Brimsdown Rovers – famed for former player David Beckham – merged with Enfield 1893 FC in 2010. Three years later, Brimsdown FC was formed as a successor, playing in the Spartan South Midlands League, as well as an academy and 8 youth teams. Owner Ahmet Toygun hopes to bring Brimsdown FC back to the Enfield area and own their own ground.

Form guide

Both teams have registered one win so far – Brimsdown’s coming on Saturday against Basildon Town, who beat us earlier in the season. Last season they finished 13th.

Previous meetings

Our first meeting came in the Eastern Counties League in September 2023 – a rather drab 0-0 away draw. The reverse fixture in December 2023 saw us edge it 1-0 with a rare goal from Bailey Pryce.

Players to watch

It’s difficult to pinpoint as all seven goals scored so far this season have been netted by seven different scorers. Presumably a new team and therefore an unknown quantity/potential surprise package.

Admission

Standard admission is £7, concessions £5, U18 £4 and U12 free.
