Match preview // Hoddesdon Town vs Clapton CFC Men’s First Team // 28.02.26

Hoddesdon Town vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, February 28 2026 with a 3pm kick off at Lowfield Sports Ground Hoddesdon Hertfordshire EN11 8PX

The Clapton CFC Men’s First Team face a very tricky game on Saturday away at one of the division’s form sides.

After a fairly astonishing 10 wins in a row, CCFC have moved up to second in the Eastern Counties League table, two points behind leaders Hutton but with a game in hand.

However, Hoddesdon are nine unbeaten at home themselves and would be right at the top with us if it wasn’t for a strangely poor start to the season.

About the opposition

Hoddesdon Town was established in 1879 and started playing at its current Lowfield ground in 1882. The highlight of the club’s history must be winning the FA Vase at Wembley in front of 9500 spectators in the competition’s first ever season, 1974/75. In recent seasons they’ve flitted between the Essex Senior League and the Spartan South Midlands League but were relegated to the Eastern Counties League Division One three seasons ago.

Previous meetings

In October we won 4-1 at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, in front of a season best crowd of 1057, thanks to goals from Cameron Gordon (2), James Briggs and Azariah George-Lawal.

Two seasons ago, a 0-0 draw at the OSD was followed by a 1-0 win away, thanks to Noah Adejokun’s goal. Last season we met in the FA Vase, which finished 2-2 before we edged it on penalties.

Form guide

Having lost the first NINE league games of the season and sitting rock bottom, Hoddesdon’s form picked up just after their defeat at the OSD. In fact over the last 17 games, they have the fourth best form, and remain an outside bet for sneaking into the play-offs.

Player/s to watch

Joint top scorers are Connor Bolton and Connor Casey with 11 apiece. Bolton has scored for the last five games in a row.

Admission

Hoddesdon Town’s admission prices are £8, with concessions £5 and U12s £2.

There’s a bar and a tea bar serving hot food and snacks. The programme is online only.
