Eva van der Vliet says farewell to Clapton CFC for new adventure overseas

Sad news as Eva van der Vliet has played her last games for CCFC as she leaves the country – ending her spell with two deserved player of the match wins.

Eva signed two seasons ago having previously played for Watford Development, SOAS University of London, Graaf Willem in the Netherlands and futsal for Bloomsbury.

In her 40 appearances since, she has been a mainstay in our defence, bringing calmness and pace. And while she may have only scored only once, it was a truly memorable one, from inside her own half at Hastings United.

After her last home game, Eva said: “What a club! I’ve played in many places since I was very young and I can confidently say there’s no place like Clapton. The camaraderie between the team, to see the fans, the little kids, what the club stands for.

“To look around the ground and see a Palestinian flag feels so special, it feels like you’re playing for something bigger. And I never took that for granted. I will always remember and I’ll be back.”

Good luck, Eva!
