Clapton CFC Men’s First Team result reinstated as Dunmow Town are saved

Good news from the Eastern Counties League Division One South, the division that the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team play in, that Dunmow Town have been saved.

Dunmow notified the league of their intention to fold in late November and all their fixtures were postponed. After attempts to rescue them failed, their exit was officially confirmed by the league on December 8. All their results were expunged, including our 5-0 win in our opening game.

However, this week the FA and league gave interested parties another chance to save the club, and this has proved successful.

Dunmow will begin playing again after Christmas, away against Hoddesdon Town who they groundshare with, though their fixture list will need to be rescheduled. Their results so far now stand.

Dunmow formed in 2020 playing in the Essex & Suffolk Border League and were promoted to the Eastern Counties League in 2023. They reached the play-off finals in their first season, losing to Wormley Rovers, who had beaten us in the semis. Before moving to Hoddesdon, Dunmow had groundshared at Braintree Town, Heybridge Swifts and Saffron Walden Town.
