Match preview // FC Romania vs Clapton CFC Men’s First Team // 29.12.25

FC Romania vs Clapton Community FC takes place on Saturday, November 29 2025 with a 7.45pm kick off at Theobalds Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN8 8RU

On Saturday, it’s our first ever meeting with FC Romania as we look to get the league form back on track.

Having previously enjoyed a fantastic run – eight wins out of ten games – we’ve hit a bit of a blip since with two draws and a defeat in the last three games.

Just our luck, though, we travel up to Cheshunt as The Wolves have hit form themselves with back to back wins under new management.

About the opposition

The club was formed in 2006 by Ionuţ Vintilă, the manager for the next 16 years, with the team name reflecting the Romanian heritage of many of the players. Having started in Sunday football on Hackney Marshes, they switched to Saturdays in 2008 playing at Low Hall in Walthamstow. They entered the Middlesex County Football League in 2010, playing at Leyton Sports Centre, and quickly rose up the levels, through the Essex Senior League and by 2018 up to the Isthmian League, Step 4. There’s been a few turbulent seasons since, in which they’ve experienced two relegations back to Step 6. The aim is to eventually have their own home and become a respected and established part of English football.
