Jake Wintour and Tami Unuefa head to university

Good luck and congratulations to Jake Wintour and Tami Unuefa, who now head off to Bristol and Nottingham University respectively after the Clapton CFC Men’s First Team game against Newbury Forest.

The 18-year-olds have enjoyed a fair degree of success since joining last season, including winning the league cup final against Forest Hill Park.

Tami, who has mastered pretty much every position across the pitch, won three end-of-season awards and became the third youngest scorer in the team’s history.

Tricky winger Jake quickly graduated from Development Team to First Team, won an end of season award and is currently top of the assists table.

They’ve each won a player of the match vote in the last two games showing how much they will be missed.

Manager Geoff Ocran said: “We’ve seen them grow in confidence as young men and become vital members of the first team. It’s not a farewell though as both will hopefully be available now and then, when they’re back home, just not every week.”

After the Newbury game, Jake and Tami both confirmed they hope to play for Clapton during the university holidays, while also joining their university football teams and in Tami’s case look to dual sign with a local non-league team too.

Fresher talents

Tami made his debut as a substitute in the first game of last season (in the SCEFL vs Greenways on 3/8/24) in a 1-0 win. His full debut came two weeks later in a SCEFL 2-1 away win at SC Thamesmead.

For the 2024/25 season, he was voted the Supporters Young Player of The Year and Management Young Player of The Year, and he received the most Player of the Match Awards (6). He is also a SCEFL Division One Cup Winner.

Jake made his debut as substitute in the game away at Canterbury City in the SCEFL on 1/2/25 in a 0-2 defeat. His full debut came a few weeks later on 18/2/25 against Halls FC in the SCEFL Division One Cup in a 2-0 win.

He won the Management Most Improved Player of The Season award for 2024/25 and of course was a SCEFL Division One Cup Winner too.
