Thanks to all who wore the Second Spanish Republic away colours on April 14

Sunday, April 14 saw the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Second Spanish Republic, whose colours Clapton CFC proudly wear on our away shirts, accompanied with the three pointed star of the International Brigades.

This year, to mark this anniversary we invited people to wear the colours on the day.

In London, our women’s first team played in the away kit in the home match against Brentford at the Old Spotted Dog Ground, and many supporters also wore the shirts, scarves and hats in the colours.

In Barcelona, 38 people joined civil war historian Nick Lloyd at Plaça de la Universitat for a short history talk, a toast and a group photo.

And elsewhere, many people tagged themselves in social media photos wearing the colours of the Republic, some of whom appear in the montage above.

“Adelante”!
