January 2021 income and expenditure

Another lockdown at the start of the new year meant that the club essentially went into hibernation in January – it was a very quiet month.

The club’s committees spent only £2,777.46. and most of this was by the Communications Committee, including postage of merchandise (£2,200.07) from the Christmas rush in December and PayPal fees on new sales in the last month (£157.68). The only other notable spending was also from December, for pitch hire for the Women’s 5s sessions (£277.92)

Our income in January was £4,455.31, down from £12,175.57 the previous month. This includes merchandise sales of £3,625.53 (before the deduction of PayPal fees of £157.68), monthly direct debit donations (£84.88)and other individual donations totalling £138.00.

In January, we also received membership fees totalling £606.90 (£635 less PayPal fees of £28.10). By the end of the month we had 34 membership renewals and 20 new members. Since the start of our financial year in July 2020, we have had 1348 renewals or new memberships (more than the whole of 2019/20) and now have a total active membership of 1534.

In reporting the club’s expenditure, VAT is listed separately, In January, we collected £333.44 from the sales of our merchandise and can claim back £759.86 from VAT added to purchases made by the club and by the Old Spotted Dog Ground Trust. This means that we can reclaim £426.42 for the month from HM Revenue & Customs.

CLAPTON AGAINST CORONA HARDSHIP FUND

We have recorded Hardship Fund income and spending separately since this initiative was set up ten months ago and in January 2021, the income and spending for the Hardship Fund was:
